As the grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australia's horticulture industry, the primary function for Hort Innovation is creating value for horticulture growers and those across the horticulture supply chain.
Hort Innovation's investments are funded by grower levies and Australian Government contributions, as well other industry contributions and co-investment. Hort Innovation is owned by growers, and the investments made are on behalf of growers' levy industries. Investment decisions are prioritised by the current needs highlighted by each horticulture levy industry.
To gain the necessary insight from industry, Hort Innovation undertakes widespread consultation with growers and Custard Apples Australia Management Committee. Priorities for industry-specific investments can be found in the Custard Apple Strategic Investment Plan 2022-2026.
